At the Orlando Face-Off Tournament in Kissimmee, FL on July 26, 2020, members of the Sweetlax FL affiliate team the Space Coast Stingrays engaged in an altercation with three African-American players from the True Florida team. During and after the game, one or more players from the Stingrays repeatedly used racist language directed towards the black players, including “Go back to Africa” and “go back to Wakanda”, as well as the term “n–r”. This language was in addition to other acts of unsportsmanlike conduct.

In response to the incident, Sweetlax FL has revoked its affiliation and severed ties with the Space Coast Stingrays. Below are reports from professional lacrosse icon Kyle Harrison and responses from Sweetlax FL via Instagram.

This is why we have come together. There is NO room for it in our sport, or anywhere else. Young boys and girls experiencing this, we got your back. Stay strong and keep going. We must get better, ESPECIALLY lacrosse.
